Zrnovci is situated in the east part of Macedonia, 8 km south of Kocani, placed in the valley of Kocani, more precisely in the foot of the mountain Plackovica, with area of 2848 ha. 57% of the total area of Zrnovci is forest, whereas 32% arable land. The biggest part of the arable land is rice fields (the total year production of rice bulb is averagely 800 tons out of which 480 t belong to the community sector ).

The river of Zrnovci goes through the village. The river itself is one of the more abundant tributaries of the river Bregalnica. On the river there is a power station which has largery changed the natural water flow of the river as well as its environment (the living conditions ) in it. The mouth area of the Zrnovska river is 38 km2, while its length is 24 km.

The height of Zrnovci above sea level is 345 m and as a part of the valley of Kocani it is shielded against strong north winds coming from the mountains Osogovo, and against air break through from south,it is protected by the mountain Plackovica. The parameters that illustrate the climate in this region are the following:

the average yearly sum of rainfall is 547,9 mm

Apart from its natural beauty and favourable situation this village appears as a small town or bigger village. This is not due to the number of inhabitans but to their life-style that raised the level of the village which is now a centre of the community Zrnovci.

The village has had an electric power station for 50 years; and there also is: a primary school, an outpatient department, a house of culture, sports Playground, which give the village an image of a progressive one. Apart from these Zrnovci has other distinctive features like its square and a beautiful park, a Shopping Centre,a hotel with a restaurant, a centre with shops and favorable infrastructure ( electricity, watersuppy, telephone, roads).

There are 2279 inhabitans in Zrnovci,98% of which are of Macedonian nationality and Orthodox Christians.1137 people are able to work,730 of which are unemployed. The profile of the education level is the following:

27% are with secondary education,

2% with higher professional education and

1% with university

The inhabitans are mainly argicultural producers who cultivate their fields; part of them keep domestic animals, or have trade store or restaurants. The craft and the few small industrial objects give out an impression of town activities

The community Zrnovci is situated in the east part of Macedonia, on the transverse road which conects Skopje - Veles - Shtip - Kocani - Delcevo with the Republic of Bulgaria. It is about 8 km away from Kocani. It is situated on the slopes of Plackovica, that is in the zone of the Serbian-Macedonian massif, or the old Rodopi mountains. The three inhabited places (Zrnovci, Vidoviste and Morodvis ) are widely open towards the river Bregalnica and the field of Kocani. The total area of the community Zrnovci is 51.764.076 m2. That is:

On the territory of the community there are 3344 inhabitans, 3293 of which are Macedonian, and the rest are Vlahs, Turks, Serbs etc. The population in Zrnovci is 2279, in Morodvis 524 and in Vidoviste 541 inhabitants.

The total number of people with salaries is 407, whereas the number of unemployed people able for work is 730. To these data it can also be added that 162 people receive public welfare and 250 are retired. 50% of the total population are agricultural workers who mainly grow vegetables and rice.

As far as the education is concerned, 624 people have secondary education, 41 higher education and 21 with university.

Averagely, the mortality on the area of the community is 21 people, whereas the natality is 37 children per year. That shows that there is an increase of the population for 16 inhabitants in the community Zrnovci. 100 people of the total population are at temporary work abroad.
