The environmental association “Javor” from Zrnovci was founded in May 1997, by a group of young enthusiasts, tribunes for healthy environment. Today the association has 250 members, and it encompasses the activities of its recruit at the Primary School “Todor Arsov”. In the period of five years of its existence, working in rather difficult conditions, without premises or technical equipment, it has managed to realize several activities, such as:

  planting the surrounding hills of Plackovica

  cleaning the riverbed of the river Zrnovka

  planting pines and maintenance of the park in the village

 The role of our NVO in PDS2, enabled us to increase our knowledge and experience largely, by the means of the technical and the financial aid. We especially appreciate the assistance we received by the six training seminar and the three meetings for creating a net for advice and immediate help. Now we can without doubt say that our NVO has achieved a high level of institutional development, which guarantees success in our further activities and efforts.

In the frame of EA "Javor" works Agricultural Information centre like public service centre aiming to inform and educate the citizens about the latest healthy food production technologies, models for sustainable and organic agriculture, trade and ways of associating the agricultural producers, possibilities for employment as well as conquering new markets, connecting with modern farmers from the country and abroad, credit lines, grants,etc. Several organizations from the USA aided the printing of the bulletin: The Institute for the Sustainable Communities, Democracy and Management Office, European and New Independent Countries Bureau, USAID, as well as the German Association for technical Cooperation–GTZ. The guiding team of the organization has produced several preliminary projects to be realized in the following period:  Project for training of NVO from rural areas, As well as a Project for stocking the river Zrnovka with fish and a Project – campaign for application of the model of sustainable agriculture in the community Zrnovci.

In the following period the association is going to continue to realize the activities planned with the annual program.Among them is the campaign for maintenance of the river Zrnovka which is one of the rarely clean ones in Macedonia, and the only alternative for drinking water supply to the inhabitants of the community Zrnovci.
